Easy American Pancakes

American style pancakes are a great for a weekend brunch or if you have a little more time in the school holidays, a breakfast treat for your family. They are easy to make and you will likely have all the ingredients in your cupboard. They can either be enjoyed with some bacon and eggs or loaded with summer berries.

Method:

To cook your pancakes you will need a smooth griddle pan or heavy based frying pan.


  • The easy method to make the pancake batter is to use a blender, add all the ingredients at once, blitz until you have a smooth batter. If you don’t have a blender then it can easily be made in a bowl and mixed by hand.

  • Add the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt to a bowl and make a well.

  • In a jug mix the Milk with the beaten Eggs and melted Butter, slowly pour in to the bowl and mix together with a hand whisk until smooth.

  • Transfer the batter from the blender or bowl to a jug, it is much easy to pour the batter on the griddle or frying pan.

  • Lightly grease and heat the griddle or frying pan.

  • Pour a little of the batter on to the hot pan, once the top starts to bubble, flip over your pancake and cook the other side until golden brown.

Make a stack of pancakes, serve hot, with a choice of savoury or fruit toppings along with some butter or syrup.
